- Local MP, currently campaigning for Rother Valley to receive £20 million of the £4.3 billion fund to improve local infrastructure, welcomes announcement that Government is making £125,000 available to support Local Authorities to prepare a bid
Local MP for Rother Valley and Levelling Up Fund champion, Alexander Stafford, asked a question in the House of Commons today about financial support for Local Authorities preparing a bid for the scheme.
During questions with Eddie Hughes MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, Alexander asked if the Government would be making available any financial support to those Local Authorities in high priority areas who are in the early stages of preparing to bid for a £20 million slice of the fund.
The Minister advised Local Authorities to engage with their local MPs and to take advantage of the £125,000 available to help them draft and submit an impressive, commercially-viable proposal.
Commenting on the news, Alexander said:
"I asked the Parliamentary Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, Eddie Hughes, what support his department could give RMBC to encourage them to put in a bid.
He said that he urges the council to use the £125,000 that will be given to help it work up an impressive and commercially appropriate bid.
I hope to work with RMBC to help identify local projects that could benefit from this grant funding and put together a successful bid.
However, I also want to hear from Rother Valley residents directly to find out where you would most like this investment to go, so please let me know by filling out this very short form on my website"
