Remember the campaign to save Todwick swimming pool?
Alexander and the Local Conservatives do. But those in power seem to have conveniently forgotten about it.
Unfortunately it doesn’t surprise anyone that those people in Labour who worked hard to make it a political issue when the closure was announced, have now seemingly dropped all interest.
Joshua Bacon - Aston & Todwick Councillor, and Alexander Stafford have written to the Secretary of State for Education regarding promises and statements made before the election by the local Labour Party, regarding saving the pool.
It always clear that if the Todwick pool was to be saved it was a decision for Todwick Primary School to make and the local council (RMBC), as the local education authority, to provide/apply for the additional capital funding needed.
The Labour Party said the funding should come from the Department for Education. (Blatant pass the buck and deflection attempt from RMBC which they control - which also let RMBC off the hook).
So now they are in power nationally, where is this funding? And what ever happened to the “petition” they organised?
Alexander said: “Let’s see what answers come from our letter and a local resident’s Freedom of Information request - local people in Todwick haven’t forgotten Labour’s campaign either!”
