Whitestone Solar Farm - campaign update
Alexander submitted his objection to the Whitestone Solar Farm on the developer’s online consultation. This is the first stage of the planning approval process for the huge solar farm which has been designated a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project.
The consultation has now closed, but there is still time to join the fight. If you have yet to do so, start by signing Alexander’s petition to send a clear message here: https://www.alexanderstafford.org.uk/campaigns/whitestone-solar-farm
Alexander said: “I am incredibly disappointed that our local Labour representatives have taken the position of supporting the proposal. Of course, they dressed their support up as being “constructive”. Tinkering around the edges is not good enough. It is frustrating that Labour representatives who for weeks said they were “concerned” are giving the developers a green-light.
“Over the next couple of years, as a community we will have to accept that Labour’s Ed Miliband and co are NOT on our side.
“The information provided by the developers is also not good enough and seemed deliberately vague in this consultation, for example, we have no idea where or how many battery storage systems will be required or how much high quality land will be lost.
“We cannot allow Rother Valley to be systematically destroyed, food security abandoned and our countryside industrialised, just so Starmer can placate nutters with their ideological nonsense energy policy.”
