Alexander Stafford MP has urged the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care to consider investing into areas such as Thurcroft to set up reliable PPE supply chains.
Thurcroft has a rich history in producing textiles and Alexander believes it would be the perfect place for a new PPE facility. The Coronavirus outbreak has shown that we must have robust, strong domestic supply chains, following reports of defective PPE that has been imported into the UK.
Alexander is pushing for investment into Rother Valley and has written a letter the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care urging him to set up a PPE facility in Thurcroft. Such a facility would support and safeguard supply chains, whilst also bringing skilled jobs to the area.
Commenting, Alexander Stafford MP said:
A PPE facility in Thurcroft would not only safeguard critical supply chains but it would also help level up the area, by bringing investment and skilled jobs. Across Rother Valley I have seen the huge voluntary local effort in producing PPE and supporting a new facility would reflect the local dedication to support our health and social care providers.
