Wales is a small village in the southwest of the Rother Valley constituency with a population of over 1,000. Its history can be traced back to the Anglo-Saxons, though it is speculated to also have Celtic and Roman influences, and its name is believed to originate from Old English for either “stranger/foreigner” or “field of battle”. Sharing a name with the country, a Welsh choir from Ynysybwl visited the local St John the Baptist Church in 2006 and presented them with a model of a dragon as a gift.
