Alexander Stafford has today raised the lack of Further Education opportunities in Rother Valley to the Education Minister Gillian Keegan MP.
Dinnington College Campus is under the threat of closure which would mean pupils would have to travel elsewhere to complete their courses. Alexander has voiced his opposition to the proposals, which would see the closure of the campus and he has met with the Further Education Commissioner to ensure that the concerns of both pupils and parents were taken into consideration.
Alexander is urging the RNN Group, who operate the Dinnington Campus, to put learners needs first and ensure that any decision will not affect the quality of education they receive. Alexander has also highlighted the need to support staff at the college to prevent job losses.
Commenting, Alexander Stafford MP said:
“Dinnington College Campus is crucial to the Further Education opportunities that are available to the residents of Rother Valley and if it is closed there will be an incredible amount of disruption to learners and their education.
“Staff and pupils must come first, and I hope any decision made will treat them as the priority. If the campus is closed, then pupils will have to travel further so that they can continue and access their courses.
“I will continue to fight for the future of the campus, and I remain committed to ensuring that Rother Valley can offer vital Further Education opportunities.”
