It was a pleasure to visit Winthrop Gardens in Wickersley, a one-acre inclusive and accessible community garden operated by the parish council. I saw first-hand the great work being done to support local residents, particularly the elderly, vulnerable, and isolated, by way of the sensory gardens, the friendly tearoom including the Memory Café for those living with dementia, the Curiosity Corner donation shop, and the Atrium for recreational activities.
I spoke to parish council members about their plans for the future and their hopes for expansion, including bidding for potential pots of Government funding. It is wonderful to see Winthrop Gardens thriving again since coronavirus restrictions have lifted and I urge everyone in the Wickersley area and across Rother Valley to support this great resource.
