- Alexander Stafford, local MP for Rother Valley, visited Thurcroft Pit Top recently to meet FCC Environment, who own the site
- FCC Environment encouraged locals to keep visiting the site, but urged safety and caution when doing so
Rother Valley MP Alexander Stafford paid a visit yesterday to Thurcroft Pit Top to meet representatives from FCC Environment, the company who own the site and are responsible for it's maintenance.
Discussing the safety of the site, FCC Environment are keen to remind visitors to take care when they do come to enjoy the scenery and the nature that the pit top has to offer. One of the simplest ways to stay safe while on site is to stick to the pathways. By keeping to public footpaths and bridleways that traverse the site, visitors will be protected from potentially dangerous areas of the landfill where large plant machinery still operates.
To help people use the public rights of way, FCC Environment has produced a handy flyer showing which footpaths are accessible and areas that people should avoid.

I recently enjoyed a lovely trip to Thurcroft Pit Top with my wife and daughter, so when FCC Environment invited me back for a site tour, I jumped at the chance.
If you are local to Thurcroft, or are out and about in the area, I would definitely encourage you to stop by for a few hours - but please do stick to the paths and download the map FCC Environment have created before you go so you know where they are.
