ecently, I met with Cllr Singleton, Borough councillor for the Thurcroft & Wickersley South Councillors.
We discussed the issue of antisocial behaviour that occurs through Wickersley South between the Tanyard and Bob Mason Recreation Ground, and the awful events at the St Albans church where a cemetery headstone was damaged. This is unacceptable and we will continue to fight for the council and police to put more resources into tackling anti-social behaviour in the area.
Often the police respond to concerns that I raise by saying there have been no or few reports, as such they have not given a location any attention. As such, it is very important that we report all anti-social behaviour through the channels available, no matter the size of the crime. You can use the 101 for non-emergencies, the online reporting tool or 999 in case of emergencies. Visit South Yorkshire Police website for all the contact details - https://www.southyorks.police.uk/contac.../report-something/
Anti-social behaviour should also be reported to the council. This can be done online at: https://www.rotherham.gov.uk/xfp/form/299
Very simply - the more reports that the authorities receive, the more resources are put into that location.
We also discussed the issue of litter - which is particularly of concern in Thurcroft. Voluntary littering groups are working hard to keep their villages clean and are often seen completing litter picks every week. It is heart-breaking to see the work thrown away by large amounts of litter. Councillor Singleton has spoken with local Police and community groups to provide ways on educating behaviours and take pride in where you live. I will do what I can to support this work.
I will continually work with ward councillors to improve our neighbourhoods and provide a safe environment. If you have any concerns, please email me at [email protected]
