I have always believed in the importance of supporting our smaller businesses, and making sure that local people can get high quality, local jobs. In my time as MP for Rother Valley, I held annual jobs fairs: helping young people and those coming out of retirement or sickness finding new jobs they will love.
I’ve also been proud to champion small businesses of all shapes and sizes across Rother Valley, working with them to amplify their concerns to the Government and even bringing the Business Minister to Rother Valley to hear directly from them. After all, without the amazing shops, cafés and factories around Rother Valley, there would be no jobs.
- Rebuild high-streets as new areas for shopping – encouraging new businesses and backing existing ones.
- Encourage everyone to “shop local” and “buy British” – so that our local producers have the support they need.
- Hold more jobs fairs – helping school leavers and those re-joining the workforce to find high-quality jobs in their local area.
- Support rural jobs - making sure that those not working in urban areas have the same access to support.
