Today we welcomed news that a record number of people are in work and wages are growing at the fastest rate in 20 years – creating jobs and helping grow the economy.
Even in the face of global economic challenges the UK labour market remains resilient, and we are determined to support families across the country by delivering on our promise to halve inflation and reduce debt.
That is why today we welcomed the news that wages are growing at the fastest rate in 20 years, and a record number of people are in work – with ONS figures showing that pay rose by 6.4 per cent annually between September and November and the number of employees on the payroll is now 888,000 above pre-Covid levels.
This news means more people across the country are in work, helping to drive long-term growth, higher wages, and better living standards for everyone.
