I have put my name to vital amendments on the new Health and Care Bill being brought forward to the committee stage.
I am pleased to be a lead sponsor of these important amendments that aim to protect women and girls from harm, including;
A prohibition on virginity testing; a person will be guilty of an offence if they attempt to establish that another person is a virgin by making physical contact with their genitalia.
A prohibition on hymenoplasty, a person is guilty of an offence if they undertake a surgical procedure for the purpose of re-attaching membrane tissue, creating scar tissue or otherwise attempting to re-create the hymen in the vagina of a patient.
I would be interested to know your thoughts on these amendments to the Health and Care Bill.
