Rother Valley's local MP Alexander Stafford judged the Brampton-en-le-Morthen 2021 Scarecrow competition this weekend.
Falling this year on Yorkshire Day, somewhat appropriately, the BELM Summer Fayre and Scarecrow competition was a lovely day out for all the family and a chance to showcase some of the fantastic workmanship invested in the creation of the scarecrows.
Alexander was invited to judge and had the difficult job of deciding which scarecrow design should take the top spot. Entrants included Minions and BoJack Horseman among many others but ultimately, there could only be one winning scarecrow and that scarecrow was designed by Les & Molly Walker.
Commenting, Alexander said:
The Brampton-en-le-Morthen Scarecrow competition was a fantastic event and I was thrilled to be asked to judge it, although it was certainly a very tough job!
It was a wonderful way to mark Yorkshire Day and I would like to thank everyone who designed a scarecrow, helped run the event and made it a success. Congratulations to Les & Molly on winning first prize - it was a close-run competition but there could only be one winner!
