- Rother Valley MP Alexander Stafford visited Aston Fence Junior School to speak to students, staff and Governors about a range of issues, including a serious problem they are experiencing with traffic.
Alexander Stafford, local Member of Parliament for Rother Valley, visited Aston Fence Junior School to discuss concerns around traffic with teachers and governors.
The longstanding issue of road safety is being fought by school governors with support from the current and former head teacher. The roads around the school are currently 40mph which, when coupled with restrictive parking measures put in place by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC), creates an extremely dangerous situation.
Since taking up the post as MP for Rother Valley, Alexander has called on the council to rethink the road safety measures around the school and will continue to work with all interested and affected parties going forward.
Commenting, Alexander said:
It was wonderful to visit Aston Fence School last week and meet with Headteacher Mrs Dawson and representives from the Governors, to have a look around and discuss traffic issues around the school.
It was a great school to visit with so many happy children who are learning in a caring environment. We are so lucky to have such schools in Rother Valley.
